You can suggest activities via the activities table. The application will only be visible to the organization in question once the user responds.
As a platform administrator or moderator, you often serve as a facilitator, connecting people with suitable volunteering opportunities. To support this matchmaking process, our platform allows you to:
- Assign users to activities and manually link them
- Suggest activities to users
In both cases, an application is created. Here’s how the suggest feature works:
Suggesting Activities
- You can suggest any activity to any user.
- The application will automatically be given the status ‘Suggested’.
- This application will NOT be immediately visible to the organisation.
- The application will be immediately visible to the user.
When to use it? Suggesting activities is especially useful when a connection hasn't been made yet and the user needs to take the next step.
How does it work? You can suggest activities to users in just a few steps by manually creating an application:
- Go to your admin panel.
- Click on ‘Activities’ . You’ll arrive in the data overview for all types of activities. NOTE: Depending on your platform or website settings, this name may vary (i.e. 'Opportunities').
- Find the activity you’d like to suggest to a user by searching with the ID number, title, contact person, or organisation.
- Below the activity link, you’ll see ‘+ Suggest to user’ , click this. A pop-up will appear with two fields:
- Select a user: Search and select the relevant user by entering their name or email address.
- Send a message: Optionally, add a message for the selected user. NOTE: The organisation is not notified, until the person takes action and the status of the application changes. After that organisation administrators can view your message in their message center.
- Click ‘Send’ to suggest the activity. The user receives an email, which takes them directly to the activity page. When they click the sign-up button (now labelled ‘Suggested: click here’), they have two options:
- Message organiser: The user sends a message to the organiser, turning the suggestion into a regular application, which becomes visible to the organisation and has the 'Pending' status.
- Withdraw application: The application receives the status ‘Withdrawn’ and becomes visible to the organisation.
TIP: You can find analytics under ‘Applications by origin’.
