Volunteering, learning and community opportunities: what options do I have?

Opportunity types, time formats, custom tags and adjustable terminology together form the core of your platform. In this article we explain what options there are and how you can use them.

We have three primary activity types (which can be switched on / off per platform), and three time formats. Together with custom tags and the possibility to adjust the terminology, a solution can be found for every scenario.

Three primary opportunity types

We offer three primary opportunity types (which can be turned on/off per platform). You can decide to omit specific types from the discovery page. The types:

  • Volunteering opportunity: This category includes all traditional volunteering opportunities. All time formats are supported (see below).

  • Learning opportunity: Learning opportunities are always one-off activities, and can be created without a date, with an end date, or with both a start and end date. Together with custom tags this allows you to offer more than just workshops, such as e-learnings and courses.

  • Community opportunity: community opportunities are also always one-offs, and can be created without a date, with an end date, or with both a start and end date. Together with custom tags this allows you to offer more than just events; think challenges or fundraisers.

It is possible to modify the terms for opportunity types as you see fit.

Time formats: three clear options

We offer three different time formats (subtypes):

  • One-off: All three primary opportunity types can be one-offs. You can create them without a date, with an end date, or with both a start and end date.

  • Project (temporary): This time format is exclusively for volunteering opportunities. You can indicate whether it is regular (weekly / monthly) or flexible, how many hours it requires approximately (possibly even at which part of the day), when it starts and for what period.

  • Organization Role: This time format is exclusively for volunteering opportunities. You can indicate whether it is regular (weekly / monthly) or flexible, how many hours it requires approximately (possibly even at which part of the day), and from which date help is wanted.

Examples of applications

Our main motivation behind these updates was to simplify the opportunity creation form. We these options we make the opportunity creation form as intuitive as possible. At the same time, we want to provide flexibility so that our partners have many opportunities for offering valuable content and attracting new audiences. Some examples of applications:

  • An ongoing "Challenge" that users can join at any time.

  • A series of "E-learnings" that users can complete at their own pace.

  • A complete "Activity Calendar" focused on multiple goals.
  • A comprehensive "Resource Center" with various learning modules and workshops.

Let's discuss the possibilities together!

We are happy to discuss the possibilities with our partners. Please feel free to contact your Partnership Manager to set up an appointment, so we can explore together how you can make the most of these features.
