Why can't I open a page/login/why do I get an URL error?

Cookies. Cache. Browser. Doesn't load. Cannot be loaded.

f you can't login or open a webpage, it is often because of:

  • an out of date browser (in this case, update your browser) or

  • the stored cookies and cache of your internet browser.

Is your browser up to date? Then take the following steps:

  1. Do a "hard refresh": download the most current version of a page via keyboard shortcuts.
  2. See if the page works from an incognito or private screen.
  3. Clear your browser's cache.

Do a "hard refresh": download the most current version of a page via keyboard shortcuts

Without clearing the entire cache, it is also possible to directly retrieve the latest version of a particular web page. Use the following keyboard combinations for this:

  • Windows: Ctrl + F5 (Refresh from the server) - F5 (also refresh with local data)

  • Mac: Command + Shift + R

 


 

See if the page works from an incognito or private screen

Most browsers these days have an incognito mode. When you open the private mode, you can surf the internet without your surfing behavior and internet data being tracked by the browser. The cache is then empty.
