How do I check if a volunteer is already in contact with the organisation they have signed up for?

Press on your profile picture top right

Press "Administration panel"

Choose "Signups"

Search by name or by sorting columns differently for the correct volunteer/signup.

By clicking on the number of messages, you can see the conversation between the volunteer and the organisation.
