How do I edit an image for split media-text columns?

Split media text columns are one of the options for placing content on the platform. These columns allow you to place images or icons side by side and add text if necessary. An added benefit is that you can turn images into links.

The images have a height and width of 344*344. An image that is square (i.e. where height and width are the same, regardless of the exact dimensions) is automatically resized.

But not all images fit in this option. You can resize an image that is not square with any file editor. You can also use an online file editor.

This article includes an explanation of how to use Canva and Photopea to edit an image to make it fit the split-text-media column. For Canva you do need an account, for Photopea you don't.

Image fitting for column with Canva:

  1. Log in (you may need to create an account first)

  2. Click on "create design" in the upper right corner

  3. In the drop down menu choose the options "custom size".

  4. Choose width and height. For example, assume 344*344 is the width and height of the images in the columns

  5. Drag the image into the browser

  6. Adjust the image to your liking

  7. Click on the purple button "download" in the upper right corner

  8. Click on download again

  9. You can now find the image in your downloads folder

Image fitting for column with photopea:

  1. Click on "new project"

  2. On the left side, choose the name you want to give your image

  3. Choose width and height. For example 344*344, as this is the width and height of the images in the columns

  4. Choose a background colour

  5. Click on "create"

  6. Drag the image to the browser

  7. Drag the image as desired or edit the image. More information about using photopea can be found here.

  8. To save the image, click on file -> export as -> .png or .jpg at the top left

  9. Click on "save"

  10. You can now find your image in your downloads folder
